Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe says 12 Navy personnel are among the coronavirus cases reported last evening.
Dr. Jasinghe said of the 15 new COVID-19 cases reported during the past 24 hours, 12 are Navy personnel attached to the Welisara Navy Camp of which 10 of them were on leave.
Dr. Jasinghe said two Navy personnel were identified while in quarantine.
The other three were identified as individuals who associated Navy personnel.
Accordingly, the number of Navy personnel who have contracted the coronavirus has increased to 311.
With 15 new COVID-19 patients testing positive last evening the number of cases in the country rose to 705.
172 persons who contracted the novel coronavirus have recovered and have been discharged from hospitals.
