All trade unions have decided to launch a continuous strike in all workplaces, declaring the 20th as a day of national protest.
Ravi Kumudesh, chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions and Mass Organizations, said that the country had been plunged into a major economic crisis due to the arbitrary and arrogant decisions taken by President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and the government, and that the people had been severely affected.
The Union of Trade Unions and Mass Movements says it has decided to make an unconditional contribution to the victory of the people’s struggle, noting the deep disgust of the working people of the country who are fighting for a very independent public opinion.
