34 people killed in an armed attack in Ethiopia

At least 34 people have been killed in an armed attack on a bus in western Ethiopia.

The Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) said the number of people killed was likely to rise after what it is called a “gruesome” attack on the passenger bus in the Benishangul-Gumuz region on Saturday.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has said the death toll from Saturday night’s attack could rise further.

A number of violent incidents have been reported in the area in recent times, killing at least 207 people.

Ethiopian President Abi Ahmed has said the militant group is operating training camps in Sudan across the border.
