$ 500 million from India to buy fuel . . .

6 more months to receive IMF relief?
India has agreed to provide another US $ 500 million in financial assistance to Sri Lanka for the purchase of fuel, External Affairs Minister Prof. GL Peiris said. Reuters reports that Mr. Peiris made this statement.

It also states that the Government of Bangladesh has agreed to defer payment of $ 450 million to Bangladesh.

The Minister of External Affairs has stated that it will take another 6 months to receive the relief from the International Monetary Fund.

He pointed out that until these aids are received, the people must find aids to obtain the essential goods.
