Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed the Ministers in charge of the subject to submit a joint cabinet paper on the establishment of the National Nursing University by the Ministries of Education and Health. The Prime Minister had given these instructions during a discussion held at the Prime Minister’s Office in Parliament yesterday regarding the establishment of a National Nursing College. The Prime Minister also pointed out that it was timely to award an internationally recognized degree in nursing education, as he had previously suggested. At present, nurses from 17 nursing colleges islandwide are joining the health service and the focus is on improving the need for services and the quality of active nursing education.
