Air ticket prices have been increased by 27%, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka.
Its chairman Upul Dharmadasa said the increase in ticket prices was due to the appreciation of the rupee against the US dollar.
He added that the decision had been taken by the airlines with effect from midnight yesterday.
The rupee has been valued at 203.60 against the dollar so far and has now risen to 260.
