The suspect is a 22-year-old resident of Hirana, Panadura.
Police say the suspect was arrested for providing transportation, food and financial assistance to the shooters and spying that day.
On the day of the shooting, it was revealed that the suspect had been spying in the area on another motorcycle, police said.
The ambulance driver of the Kethumathi Women’s Hospital in Panadura had spied on the area while engaged in drug trafficking and had provided information to a leading smuggler who was hiding in a foreign country, an officer who conducted the raids said.
It has been revealed that after the shooting, the suspects were given food and drink while in hiding and also paid Rs. 65,000 to the shooters on the instructions of a major smuggler hiding abroad, police said.
Police also seized 8 grams and 720 milligrams of heroin in the suspect’s possession and the motorcycle used to assist in the crime.
The suspect will be produced before the Panadura Magistrate’s Court and will be remanded for 7 days.
Five suspects have been arrested in connection with the Panadura shooting incident, a senior police official said.
