The overseas travel ban on former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal was extended until December 15 by Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kekunawela yesterday (24).
When the matter was taken up before the Magistrate, President’s Counsel Sampath Mendis appearing on behalf of Ajith Nivaard Cabraal filed written preliminary objections regarding the matter.
In reply, President’s Counsel Maithri Gunarathne appearing for the plaintiff stated that he will file written objections over the objections raised by the defence party. Accordingly, the Magistrate ordered to file the submissions on or before December 15.
The complaint had been lodged by former Southern Province Governor Rajith Keerthi Tennakoon.
The complaint had been lodged against Cabraal for allegedly abusing public funds during his tenure as the Governor of the Central Bank.
