Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Eran Wickramaratne was grilled by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for nearly four hours last afternoon.
MP Wickramaratne was summoned over several statements made during recent press conferences.
The MP reportedly questioned the safety of high profile witnesses in remand custody, such as the wife of Easter Sunday bomber Zahran Hashim and former Head of the CID Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shani Abeysekara.
Commenting on the CID’s move to question MP Wickramaratne in this regard, SJB MP Harsha de Silva has inquired as to why the former should be investigated over such comments.
“@EranWick summoned by the CID for questioning…! On what he said about ensuring the safety of Zahran’s wife. What is there to question him? Just make sure it happens,” MP de Silva tweeted.
