Corona infected heart patients should not make mistakes of taking medicine

Dr. Disna Amaratunga, Cardiologist at the Negombo General Hospital stated that it is very important for heart patients infected with the corona virus to use the prescribed medications for heart disease.

She also pointed out that if a heart patient is infected with the corona virus, they are more likely to have complications and death than the average person.

The coronavirus usually causes changes in the nature and structure of the human heart, cardiovascular system, vascular system, and blood vessels, she said. She said that when a heart patient is infected with the corona virus, he may not be able to go to the clinics and may not be able to see a doctor, and specially some heart patients infected with the corona virus avoid taking prescription drugs due to various myths about it.

She also said that in some cases, medications for the corona virus can cause complications.

She also said that it was important for heart patients to get both vaccines against the corona virus, adding that there was no barrier for people with congestive heart failure to get the vaccine.

Cardiologist Disna Amaratunga said patients who have undergone bypass surgery, stent therapy and heart surgery can still be vaccinated without any problems. She added that if the patient is taking warfarin they have to do I.N.R the test and if test result is less than 3, they can also get the vaccine.
