Sri Lanka’s Covid-19 caseload rose to 5,811 yesterday (20) following the finding of 180 new patients.
Of them, 2,341 remain in hospital, while 3,457 have recovered.
The cluster at the Brandix factory at Minuwangoda now numbers 2,221.
Gampaha district has 1,702 patients and the Katunayake Free Trade Zone reports 268 more.
A total of 27 cases have been reported from within the Colombo municipal area.
The Health Ministry’s epidemiology unit says 21 districts are reporting patients.
The ministry says in a statement that senior citizens, the most at risk, need to receive priority attention at a time when the virus has raised its head again.
It asks that health guidelines be observed by all elders.
