The Covid-19 death toll in the country mounted to 40 with four more persons succumbed to the virus today.
According to the Government Information Department, three males aged 51, 45, 55-60 and a female aged 63 were among the victims.
Details of the deceased
The deceased is a 51-year old male from Rajagiriya. He died on admission to the National Hospital, Colombo. The immediate cause of death has been identified as an exacerbation of pneumonia due to Covid-19 infection.
A 45-year-old male from Colombo 10 was reported dead on admission to the National Hospital, Colombo. The immediate cause of death is respiratory complications
The deceased is a 63- year-old female, who succumbed to the virus on admission to the Gampaha hospital. The immediate cause of death has been identified as an exacerbation of pneumonia due to Covid-19 infection.
The fourth victim is an unidentified male aged between 55-60. The post-mortem revealed that the cause of death is Covid-19.
