Island wide curfew is currently in effect as of 8.00 pm yesterday.
The President’s Media Division said curfew will remain in place until 5.00 am on Monday.
Accordingly island wide curfew remains in force over the weekend.
Curfew imposed to 21 districts excluding some Police areas, was lifted daily, between 5.00 am and 8.00 pm over the past week.
Police say curfew imposed island wide, including in areas designated as high risk zones for the spread of COVID-19, namely the Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara and Puttalam districts, is due to be lifted on Monday the 27th at 5.00 am.
Curfew will also be lifted in the Warakapola, Alawathugoda and Akkareipaththu Police zones.
However Police noted despite the lifted curfew, it will remain entirely prohibited for anyone to enter or exit the Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara and Puttalam districts.
Meanwhile conditions laid down in respect to the maintenance of essential services and agricultural activities during curfew remain unchanged.
Meanwhile 36,787 persons have been arrested for violating curfew regulations.
The Police said 9,423 vehicles have been seized as well.
Stern action was taken against curfew violators since curfew was initially imposed island wide on the 20th of March.
