Decision on curfew will be based on the PCR test results today – Army Commander

Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID 19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated that the committee will meet in the afternoon and take further decisions regarding the imposition of the curfew based on the results of the PCR test reports that are to be received today.

He made this statement while participating in the Hiru ‘Pathare Visthare’ program aired on Hiru TV this morning.

The Army Commander further stated that the majority of the PCR test reports to be received today are the close contacts of the those infected in the Peliyagoda fish market cluster.

The Army Commander stated that there is no need at present to impose a curfew on weekends.

However, the Army Commander said that according to the relevant PCR test reports, if there are high risk areas, curfew will be imposed for that area while if it is a village, the area will be isolated, .

The Army Commander also stated that he hopes to provide further relief to the people in the areas where the curfew is still in force for the next two days in order to obtain essential items and medicines.

Meanwhile, the Army Commander further requested the public to stay in their homes during the weekend as much as possible to assist in controlling the situation.
