Fuel bowser owners demand safety – many gas stations close . . . .

The Ceylon Petroleum Private Tanker Owners’ Association says that it is difficult to report for duty due to the prevailing situation. A statement issued by the association states that their tanks have become extremely unsafe for the past few days due to the island wide protests. A statement issued by the association further states that if there is a program to provide security for tankers, they can report to work. Neth News correspondents said that due to the prevailing situation even major petrol stations in Colombo and other parts of the island have been closed. Meanwhile Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera expressed his views regarding the current situation in Parliament today. The Minister said that police and military protection had been requested for the fuel bowsers.
