The Ministry of Power and Energy says that steps have been taken to release the required fuel quantity for the Yala Harvest season.
The Ministry said that the reaping of harvests using heavy machinery has commenced in the Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura Districts, and the required amount of Diesel is being provided to those farmers, while Diesel will also be delivered for the Mullaithivu and Mannar Districts.
It is also reported that the reaping of the harvest is complete in the Trincomalee and Vavuniya Districts.
Meanwhile, the farmers’ representatives met with the Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera yesterday (8) and discussed the problems related to reaping the paddy harvest.
