Gazette curtailing allowances of PC Chairmen issued

Secretary to the President has issued a Gazette Notification curtailing the allowances of Provincial Council Chairmen. The relevant Gazette notification has been sent to the Provincial Governors and the Secretaries on September 28. Accordingly, the Allowances of vehicle, fuel and telephone given to the Provincial Council Chairmen have been curtailed and a Provincial Council Chairman is entitled to only vehicles with a monthly fuel quota of 150 litres.

Earlier, a Provincial Council Chairman was granted 500 litres for a petrol vehicle and 600 litres of a diesel vehicle.Meanwhile, the telephone allowance has also been reduced as per the Gazette notification. Accordingly, an allowance of Rs.5,000 will be given for office phones per month while an allowance of Rs. 2,500 will also be given for the usage of home and mobile phones.Earlier, a Chairman received a telephone allowance of Rs.40,000, Rs.20.000 for two office phones, Rs.10,000 for two home phones and Rs.10,000 for a mobile phone. The personal staff of Provincial Council Chairmen has also been slashed. Accordingly, a Provincial Council Chairman is entitled to have only two drivers.
