Generator One of Norochcholai back in operation

enerator One of the Norochcholai Power Plant will be back in operation from Monday (29), said the Ceylon Electricity Board.

CEB Spokesperson & Deputy General Manager Andrew Nawamuni speaking to News 1st said a pipe in Generator One had burst, and it is being repaired.

Generator Two of the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant is already out of service due to maintenance.

The Norochcholai Coal Power Plant comprises three generators, and each one generates 300 MW with an output of 900 MW to the National Grid.

A portion of the generated electricity was used for operations at the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant, and one generator could only add 270 MW of electricity to the National Grid.

When Generator One malfunctioned, Generator Two was already out of service for essential maintenance.

Therefore, the national grid is short of 540 MW from the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant.
