The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has ordered that the verdict in the case filed against Shashi Weerawansa, the wife of former Minister Wimal Weerawansa, who is accused of obtaining an illegal diplomatic passport by presenting false information, be announced on May 6.
The verdict in this case was due to be announced today (11).
However, when the case was taken up, Colombo Additional Magistrate Chandima Liyanage stated that the verdict would be announced on May 6.
Defendant Shashi Weerawansa also appeared before the court when the case was taken up.
The case was filed against Shashi Weerawansa during the good governance government issued by the CID, alleging that he had committed an offense under the Immigration and Emigration Act by obtaining an informal diplomatic passport by submitting false information.
