I don’t expect interference from legislators, judiciary when fulfilling duties to people: President

In his speech at the Independence Day Ceremony today, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said that he doesn’t expect any interference from public officials, legislators or the judiciary when fulfilling his duties and responsibilities to the people.

President Rajapaksa said fulfilling the needs and requirements of the people was his responsibility and the duty.

He said the government has ensured the freedom of speech and the government is also ready to tolerate any opposing opinions and views.

“I request everyone to always place the country first and think about fellow citizens. Also, if you feel like the government is heading towards the wrong path, don’t ever be afraid to point that out,” he said.
