Manning Market open from today

Trading at the Manning Market, that was closed for several days owing to the threat of the coronavirus, will resume today.

Vice-Chairman of the Manning Market Traders Association Nimal Attanayake said mobile vendors will not be allowed to engage in trade at the Manning Market.

He said traders decided to reopen the market today, as they directly deal with farmers.

Attanayake noted that they have to protect the produce of farmers and safeguard all those involved in the industry.

Attanayake claimed in order to help farmers and in consideration of the country’s present state of affairs, a plan has been formulated to ensure fruits and vegetables will be purchased in bulk at wholesale rates.

Accordingly, the Manning Market is open for trading from 4am to 1pm daily from today, while the market will be closed and disinfected on Sundays.
