The Department of Meteorology announces that with the activation of the Southwest Monsoon condition, the prevailing rain and wind condition will continue in the western and southern sea areas and the southwestern part of the island.
Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North and North-West provinces and Galle and Matara districts will experience occasional rain or thundershowers. The announcement also mentions that heavy rains of more than 100 mm may occur in some places.
There may be some rains in the North-Central Province as well.
In the western slopes of the central hills and in the north-central, western, north-western and southern provinces, the wind speed is at times per km. It is further stated in the weather report that it may increase to about 50.
