Nurse attached to National Hospital diagnosed with Covid-19

For the first time, a nurse serving in Colombo’s National Hospital has been diagnosed with Covid-19.

Attached to the CNH’s ICU, the resident of Matugama has been admitted to Nagoda Hospital in Kalutara.

A CNH spokesman told Hiru News that around 12 of her contacts have undergone PCR tests.

Meanwhile, 69 Buddhist monks and 20 others at Silumina Seya Pirivena at Kahapola in Piliyanda are being quarantined at the Pirivena after the mother of one monk tested positive for the virus.

A restaurant in Bentota was closed yesterday (13) and its employees began to be quarantined following the finding that a Covid-19 patient from Mount Lavinia has visited the restaurant.

Meanwhile, Health Ministry spokesman Dr. Jayaruwan Bandara expects the blocked issuing of PCR test results to be cleared by today.
Around 3,000 samples are yet to be tested.

With the 145 new patients found last night, the Covid-19 cluster from the Brandix factory at Minuwangoda rose to 1,591.

The total caseload in the country now stands at 5,038.
