A special discussion was held at the Parliament complex yesterday (21) under Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena on concessions that can be given by state banks to solve the problem regarding the purchase of paddy from farmers.
Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, Finance State Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, MPs Jagath Kumara and Samanpriya Herath and Agriculture Ministry Secretary, the Trade, Commerce and Food SecurityMinistry Secretary, Bank of Ceylon, People’s Bank, Regional Development Bank and the Paddy Marketing Board Chairmen were present at the discussion. The Governor and senior Central Bank and Finance Ministry officials participated.
