Protests in several cities today, blocking roads against fuel prices ! (PHOTOS)

Protests (20) are currently taking place in some parts of the country against the increase in fuel prices. Meanwhile, the eight suspects arrested during the protest near the Mahanama Bridge in Matara are due to be produced before the Matara Magistrate’s Court today. A group of protesters are blocking the Galle-Colombo main road due to a protest in Balapitiya town. Residents of the area also staged a protest at the 8th pillar junction of the Badulla – Passara road against the increase in fuel prices. Due to this the traffic was restricted to one lane. The Badulla – Chenkaladi road was also blocked this morning due to a protest against the increase in fuel prices. In addition, protests were held blocking the Colombo-Puttalam road, Polonnaruwa-Habarana road, Tangalle-Kataragama road. In addition, the main road in front of the Galle bus stand was blocked due to a fishing protest. Protests were held in Kegalle, Ambalangoda, Hatton, Chilaw, Elpitiya, Anuradhapura, Minuwangoda, Kesbewa, Bandaragama, Battaramulla, Thoppuwa and Tissamaharama yesterday and today.
