Dr. Sudath Samaraweera, director of the National Dengue Control Unit, said that although a slight decrease in dengue patients has been reported in the last few weeks, due to the prevailing rainy weather, an increase in mosquito breeding can be expected in the future. Attending a press conference held yesterday (08) in Colombo, he said that nearly fifty thousand dengue cases have been reported so far this year.
