The gang that made money from the people waiting in the gas queues

There were reports of people making a living by being in gas queues. Further investigations revealed that a group of hired persons in Nuwara Eliya, Hatton and other areas were queuing for money.

People from Wattala, Ja-Ela and other areas have been queuing for other people since early morning.

It is reported that they charge at least Rs. 500 to wait in line for one gas cylinder. It is also reported that some people come with their family members and stay in gas queues to collect money.

However, Litro says the current gas shortage will end in a few days. Litro has also increased the number of daily gas cylinders released to the market.
The company further stated that ships carrying 3600 metric tons of gas will arrive in the island every other day.
