This is how the work of Parliament is going on today

The third session of the 09th Parliament will begin today (03) in the morning under the chairmanship of President Ranil Wickramasinghe.

The Parliamentary Communications Department stated that the Assembly will be inaugurated at 10.30 am.

According to the powers received under Article 33 of the Constitution, the President will present the government’s policy statement in Parliament.

The arrival of the invited guests will take place at 09.30 in the morning and after that the Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena and the Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena will arrive at the Parliament followed by President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

However, on the instructions of the President, a simple ceremony will be held and there will be no salutes and motorcades, the Communication Department of the Parliament said.

It is stated that a three-armed military salute will be offered only to welcome the President and the President will only raise the national flag.
