Three months’ leave with half pay for the ‘majority’ of the Foreign Service Bureau

It is reported that attention has been focused on giving a three month leave with half pay to the staff of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment.

The move comes as the bureau’s revenue has fallen.

Several branch offices of the Bureau have also been closed due to financial difficulties and its General Manager has informed the Heads of Divisions and staff in writing.

Accordingly, attention has been focused on granting half pay leave from the 1st of October to the end of December.

Accordingly, the trade unions of the Bureau strongly protest stating that about 2000 employees working in the Bureau throughout the country are preparing to be given half pay leave.
