Two customs officers on duty at the port infected with COVID19

It has been confirmed that two customs inspectors working at the main entrance of the Colombo Port have been infected with the Covid 19 virus. At present 25 associates of the two Customs Inspectors have been quarantined.

Customs Media Spokesman, Additional Director of Customs Sunil Jayaratne stated that it has been decided to release only essential containers from Customs in the next few days due to the current dangerous situation.

In addition, Sunil Jayaratne informs the public that the public has to minimize the number of visits to the Customs Headquarters and that the necessary facilities have been provided to forward the relevant documents to the Customs through the online system.
