Two more suspects arrested in the murder of MP Amarakirthi Athukorala

Two more suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing of former Member of Parliament Amarakirthi Athukorala and his security officer in Nittambu last May 09. That, by the officers of the Homicide and Organized Crime Investigation Division.

The suspects were arrested in Nittambuwa and Ranpokunagama areas. The police said that one suspect was arrested in connection with the rescue of 02 gold rings worn by the former member of parliament at the time of the attack and the robbery of the mobile phone of the chairman of the Megahakivula local council.

In addition, the other suspect has been arrested for removing another gold ring that the former member of parliament was wearing when he was attacked.

The police also mentioned that the 03 gold rings rescued from the MP by the suspects were found pawned in a pawn shop. The two suspects have been remanded until the 22nd after being produced before the Attanagalla Magistrate’s Court.
