Political sources stated that Vajira Abeywardena, the president of the United National Party, will be appointed for the position of National List Member of the United National Party, which is vacant due to the appointment of Ranil Wickremesinghe to the presidency.
The General Secretary of the Party, former Member of Parliament Range Bandara stated that the person to be appointed to the position will be decided after the Parliamentary Secretary General officially informs that the relevant MP post has become vacant.
