It has been informed that the protesters will withdraw from the Galle mouth protest site today (10).
On the 3rd of April last year, the non-partisan struggle started at the golf course forcing President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to resign from his position.
After that, it was seen that various civil groups as well as pressure groups joined this protest and the struggle ran towards different aspects.
Later, the golf face fighters attempted to invade the presidential palace and take over the presidential secretariat.
At various times, conflicts arose in the form of a hot war between political groups, supporters of the government and activists.
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa and other harsh criticisms of the Rajapaksa family system were also seen planted in this struggle ground.
Later, powerful parties including the Prime Minister resigned from their positions legally, blaming the activists, and President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa also resigned from his position on July 14th.
With this, the struggle was peaceful to a certain extent, and with the appointment of the new President Ranil Wickremesinghe, the police announced that they should move away from the golf face struggle area.
Accordingly, the activists have announced that they will officially and completely withdraw from Galle today, saying that they will continue the struggle in various areas.
