Agriculture Ministry Secretary Rohana Pushpakumara said farmers who use organic fertilizer for cultivation in this Season will be given an allowance of Rs.20,000 per hectare.
He said farmers will have the opportunity to choose a suitable organic fertilizer of their choice for paddy cultivation.
The Secretary made this statement while speaking to the media at Gannoruwa in Kandy.
He said that through the intervention of the Agricultural Services Department, organic fertilizers were distributed during the last Yala season, but the farmers did not have the ability to get fertilizers from an institution of their choice. He said this will be rectified during this Season.
